Hearing yourself

So i was wondering if anyone else has this problem. But i have always had a hard time hearing myself. And because of it, i over sing, and really just have poor control of my volume.

I have found that pluggin up one ear really really helps. IDK why but Especially when i play guitar as well, or even when i record. I know ken says that i shouldnt have one ear open on headphones but i just get more clarity and can hear my pitch better. Only when one ear is plugged up.

I mean i can hear myself whithout pluggin an ear, but it has to be in a nice verbarated room or be quiet and dead.

Any one else have the same issue?
