Singing through congestion (Rhinitis)

Hey, guys. I have a serious allergy to grass that affects me by congesting my sinuses (predominantly nose) and when I sing and compare my voice to Ken's and other singers, it sounds rather nasal, and I am worried that this is going to affect my voice badly. I am 17 and am wondering if this will continue to affect me as I get older.

    You shouldn't sound "nasally" unless you are singing when you are have have an allergy attack. The allergies are only going to affect you when they are present, and there are no long term issues to your singing per se from them. There are many ways to deal with them, so figure out what works best for you and go with that.

    The reason you sound "nasally" is because you need to practice. Ping is king and you need to work out what that is. Here is Ken explaining. These things take time and you need to learn how to work through or around obstacles to achieve your goals.
