I'm listening to this video posted by Ken. Is her voice doubled in some spots? If so, what are everyone's thoughts on doubling?

Yeah, on the right side another vocal pops up, but thats not the same as "doubling" the vocal. The example above was more of a "backing vocal".

The reason people double their tracks is to create a bigger, fatter sound. I use it on every main guitar track, and sometimes the vocals.

Doubling is not the same as copying, and pasting the vocal to another track. How it works is after you finish the first track, you want to sing on top of that track. The reason for this is because the tiny milliseconds of time it takes for you to hear the original track, and begin to sing on top of it creates such a short delay that the sound just seems bigger.

You have to be good at singing things pretty exact for both tracks though. So it takes some work.

    Peace

There are delay settings that simulate doubling, but the very small differences in actually doing the song a second time make it much more interesting than a strict delay setting. The Beatles did a lot of doubling on their early albums.
