Re: Just growing muscles or body building for better resonance?
I think that many larger-bodied singers have a natural advantage simply by the fact that their diaphragms are larger. Physics state that a large diaphragm displaces more air than a smaller diaphragm, due to the larger area being displaced, it takes less force to move more air.
With that being said, we know of smaller-bodied supersingers, such as Gabriela Guncikova, Sara Loera, and Kati Cher, who simply have learned to use what they've got to power their voices with incredible strength.
Certainly strength training in the core of the body can help to give us more power in the voice, but I believe that learning to leverage what strength we do have is more important than building reserves of brute strength.
Looking at Pavarotti, with his large diaphragm, no doubt he was able to sustain great vocal power, and it's probably safe to assume that he did not have 6-pack abs.

Re: Great improvement when moving to the coast
Fascinating. Camarón de la Isla was from San Fernando, Cádiz, and maybe the coast had something to do with his amazing voice?!
This is pure speculation but the factors that come to mind are:
- the increase in humidity from your dry hometown.
- your excitement being at the shore, visiting your mom, and beautiful southern Spain.
- Being in a different mood with more energy while being on vacation.
Not sure how to mimic the last two, but a humidifier, visits to a steam room (or hot showers), and drinking plenty of water wouldn't hurt.

Re: INFJs song feedback thread (40+ songs and counting)
Nick, All your links work except the all-important AH Scales (neither of the two links work.) You'd get the best feedback from that link, alone, for many reasons. I'd even recommend posting it in its own thread so people know exactly what you want them to listen to and it will only take them a minute or so to listen.
Your blend continues to improve and you're settling into your true tessitura. I think your main focus now would be on pitch and then on dynamics. All the tracks you posted have long sections that are consistently off pitch. I'm not talking about stylistic choices but where you don't make the pitch you're going for, not because the pitch is too high or low but just that you're not on pitch. Ken has a pitch section in version 3 but don't know if its in version 2. If not, an excellent app I use in every practice session is:
TonalEnergy Tuner & Metronome
https://apps.apple.com/app/id497716362
You have the ability to use more dynamics but are not taking advantage of them. That leads to long sequences where the volume of the vocals is identical. Are your compression settings doing that? In any case, more dynamics would make everything better, IMO.
Your song choices are fun and it's obvious you're working hard and getting results so mucho kudos on that!

Re: how to improve tone and pitch
Hello Maurits, thanks for sharing. Pitch and tone is good in the beginning when in your chest voice. You could improve pitch by doing the long tail exercises found in volume 3. Also go back to V3 videos to learn more about bridging chest to head and building powerful head voice. The head voice is sounding beathy and unsupported "I find it kind of funny".
The biggest thing I'd change is having more room in your mouth cavity when singing. We want to create space in mouth similar to a yawning sensation that allows the sound max amount of space to resonate. Executing your vowel modifications correctly automatically does this. When getting to those higher notes you are more spread out when you should be closing down the move and also keeping the tongue at the base of the jaw.
I also struggle with sounding good on a recording. My voice sounds thinner than I thought it did. I suggest to record at least once twice weekly. Use quality equipment. I just purchased a Neumman TLM 103 mic.
Keep up the great work!

Re: Joy of My Life - Chris Stapleton
I prefer Donny's voice! Thanks for sharing @Terence. I am unable to distort my voice. I sure would like to be able to. This is a question I have for Ken when I see him Thursday.
