Going to be recording vocals for an entire album at the end of the month; any tips or advice? I have a bunch of recording experience, but mostly with recording instruments. Especially would like to here any "I wish I knew this years ago" comments.

Keep both ear cups on when using headphones. You will tend to sing flat if you only use one ear cup.

When using a condenser microphone and your voice sounds thinner than you're used to, try singing not as loud as you would in a live show. A dynamic microphone (i.e. SM58) will raise the bottom end so much that loud singing sounds better than it actually is;) When you sing a little more silently your voice will sound fuller in the recording with more mids and low-end. Be organized (Have lyrics out if you need them etc...). Using a good ribbon mic will make a big difference as they are WAY more sensitive to audio, with that said, keep in a decent room with good acoustics, it helps with the quality of your voice. When it comes time to eq your sound, I found this cheat sheet a while back to help refine a bit with the audio quality, It definitely isnt a solution for sound, make sure you have your sound the way you want before hand, this just does the final touches (if your doing the recording/mixing/mastering like i did.
