Singing with tonsillitis

Hello!

I've been sick for almost 3 weeks and recently found out I have had tonsillitis. However, the sore throat is mainly gone and now I have mostly just a very crackly cough. Is there a certain guideline to singing with sore throats and other conditions, for example to not sing until fully recovered from tonsillitis, or is it more case-specific, such as if I only experience minimal throat pain, it's not a risk to sing?

    You should continue to sing when you are ill, except if you are hoarse, have laryngitis, or chest/bronchial infections. If you go ahead and sing during illnesses (except the ones listed above) you won't sound as good as you would if you were not sick, but your setbacks will be far less that if you just take a vocal rest. If you take vocal rest every time you get sick, it's much harder to bounce back vocally.

    So tough it out and sing through it.
