how can you mend practice *please critique

I was trying to sing similar to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4hPdW8i3HY

It seems so effortless to him, but it is a great challenge to me.

Any advice on what I should work on?

    This was bettter than I expected to be honest. What you can do to improve though is work on your fundamentals. Support, ping and vowel placement. This guy is a pro and has sung this song so many times he has ingrained exactly what he needs to do when. He is very round and open on his vowels and hangs them alot to sound resonant, there is also alot of effect on the vocal as well to help it. Compare how you sing "life" in the opening lyric, you sing it more how you would speak it lie-ef, he sings it laaah-ef. Little things like that make a big difference.
