Working on hitting a E5

Hi

Ive been working on those high note screams made famous by Ian Gillan and in that song Child in time he is hitting a E5. I try to sing it in falsetto first and then add volume to it. I tried with a old Judas Priest song. I am not so familiar with singing in head voice but am i on the right path?

nice. i think you are on the right track. head voice needs time to grow from a tiny volume first to adding more and more volume over time as you go (sounds like you do this when you say you go from falsetto to more volume). it is very important though to have the chest register develop properly first, otherwise you will throw off the balance and atrophy your chest voice. and then exercises need to be balanced as well, in the sense that you don't want to neglect one part for the other
