I think your voice is suitable for rock, has a good rasp. I thought the performance got better towards the end, you were more on pitch and seemed to settle into the song. Nice demo. Welcome to the forum.
I did a copy of this myself about a year ago. It was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. It sounded good, but I would try to sing it more loosely, and not so rigid. Also there were some spots where the vocals needed to be brighter. In spots it sounded like Elvis singing.
My version wasn't sang as well as yours, but here is the link if you just want to compare versions.
It's sounds good to me. I like your singing and how you delivered the song. I think there is something you have to work on about your singing but I am not the one who can tell you this.
You've definitely made progress from the first to second video! It's impressive how far up you can pull your chest but sometimes you do want to switch on over into a head voice rather than pulling your chest up so high. Great Job!
Edit: If you're trying to grow your chest voice and belting might I recommend some Shinedown? They can be tough songs to sing because of the range but they are great belty, chesty type of songs and he tends to pull his chest up pretty damn high too.
Cool man. You could benefit from a little more space and bring the sound a little more forward, I feel it's a little in the throat in the chorus ? . I like your grit.
Strong voice you are developing there mate! I'm not sure how many of Ken's YouTube video you have watched but if you pop in the search Ken Tamplin resonance, it will bring up a heap of videos. This could be a missing link for you? And be wary of your tongue especially during the fast phrasing, I think it gets in the way a bit of you enaunciating the words. Besides the above the only other thing I can suggest is to actually sing the song as bright as you can, then as dark as you can. Then sing it even brighter and darker and get a feel for how you can use those different tones throughout the song. Record them all and then see what you like🙂
Thanks guys. @Wigs thanks for the suggestions. Probably, my tongue closes the back of the throat causing that woofy sound. I have to focus on that bright ping/resonance. Sometimes i think i'm more baritone than a tenor.
