I'm new to the forum, and a HUGE fan of ken's tutorials. I bought the 2.0 and after a delay, have finally begun watching the courses, I'm already enthused by the guidance and training.
Now I need mic recommendations for a newbie- any thoughts?

Welcome! My best advice is to try not to get discouraged, even though you will at times. Singing well is very hard. I still get discouraged with myself a lot.

Get a Shure sm58. It's an affordable entry-level microphone. Probably the most popular one out there.

@hans32 , welcome to the forum. I can recommend the Sennheiser e835s. I am using it in the practice room and for home recordings, and will be using it live when we start gigging soon. So far, I am happy with it.
