Singing Advice

Hi everyone!

I’m Rory and I am a shocking singer, every
Time I sing in the shower or car, everyone tells me how bad I am.

I would love to be able to sing more than anything, so I have linked a voice clip in the hope people could tell me what I’m doing wrong and where to improve.

Thanks!

hi Rory @r5criv , first of all: maybe you should close the door while you are in the shower ;) ok, seriously: singing is a skill that needs practice, lots and lots of it. the more you practice (correctly), the better you will get. talent is a thing but most people need practice. you have come to the right place if you want to get better at singing.

you don't sound terrible in my opinion, just untrained. pitch and support aren't really developed. you can learn all of this here. either on the course itself, or, you can also start out with the free exercises. I started with Ken's free videos. I realized they helped. Then I thought it'd be a waste of time not to get the course. I did. It was a great decision.

The "secret trick" is to do workouts, almost daily, about an hour. the workout consists of scales. you will notice improvement after a few weeks, maybe even sooner. try this for a start:

there are tons of other vids, you can build your own routine.

    hope it helps!

    Hey

To achieve open throat you need to raise a soft palate? If it is true, what is the most efficient way to practice that?

Yes, you must raise the soft pallet. You will need to work out how your body works to do that. The visual indication of it is that the uvula will rise.
