Hey guys! I'm fairly new here, still on Vol. 1, doing it everyday and continually seeing improvements. My Chemical Romance is one of my favorite bands now, I really like that style of rock and was wondering why type techniques their vocalist uses to achieve his sound. is it all chest voice? Mask? Glottal Compression?
Here's a sample

Notice the tone is not breathy but nice and clear. Pay close attention to Kens "its the Lah" video in volume 1. Apply that bright tone and you will be on your way to singing MCR. Also remember to us a lot of support. those are the key points from volume 1. Bright open tone, and tons of support. He also is mixing in a little head voice as he goes higher, as well as Mask. Some sections he is adding glottal compression to get that distorted tone. Really work on brightening your tone. My rule is-if it sounds too bright, its probably right. All the best
