Cheap good quality recorder?

Or at least not shitty! I bought one from Benjei, but the quality it's too awful, I can't hear well enough! I can't use the phone, because it plays Ken's audio exercises.

You could use Garageband on iPhone as a multi-track recorder. Maybe something comparable on Android?

I can't always have my DAW available, and I can't record with my phone cause it's playing the audio exercises, and recoding is deactivated while playing back audio

Understood. But there are DAWs for phones that allow simultaneous recording and playback. Garageband for iPhone / iPad is one. You'd use headphones to hear the playback from the phone and then sing into the phone. :)

Also, if your phone with DAW software is incapable of simultaneous record/playback does not work, then you're next best bet is to find something on Amazon.com. Brand name devices will almost always work better, but they will also cost more.

Here's a link to some options

These start at about $20 USD.

Which $25 to $50 recorder will work to record my voice? I just started the course and need some feedback to see if my scale work is on pitch.

    Welcome @cknight,

Since you purchased the course you should get your forum status updated. Please find the instructions here.

I like the Tascam portable recorders, like DR-05 and DR-40. The latter has an XLR mic input to work with almost any professional microphone, and is good for live band recording, too. They record WAV files to SD card so you can take that out and plug it into your laptop to download, or plug in the USB jack and all the recordings show up as an extra drive. $99-179 new but you could probably find a used one on Reverb or something.
