Tongue exercise warm up-not able to get a clear bright sound

I have a question about the sound of the tongue warm up exercise. Listening to Ken, he has got this really bright and strong sound, but when I do the warm up, it sounds not so bright, dare I say mumbling kind of sound. It is not a clear, resonant sound. That sound that Ken has in the Youtube video when he demonstrates the warm ups (the one where he talks about performing when sick) does it come from the years of doing it and from the fact that he has developed his voice to the maximum? I did the exact shape of the tongue and mouth like he did, still it is not a clear sound. Anyone have any advice?

    Hi @mark90,

okay, thanks for naming the video and the timestamp.

Yes, it is amazing how bright Ken can demonstrate this exercise. To my opinion this exercise is underestimated regularly.

They way I approach to reach this bright timbral sound on this exercise is to really cut back the air as best as I can. Do it very lightly and gentle. Cut back the volume. Go for that bright sound first. You can add a little bit later. Firstly stay very conservative on the volume.
