sore throat after singing 3 sets with my band

I am doing better with doing the exercises and keeping an open and relaxed throat. but when I do a performance I must be pushing to hard and not using the diaphragm to sing. I think I sing to much from the throat.( at least that is what I call it). Just end up yelling. I would appreciate any advise or drills to help with this problem

    soreness is not a big problem - hoarseness is. When I started Volume 3 I got sore regularly. Remember that we are doing an extreme sport.

    You should definitely make sure that you can hear your voice clearly and loud enough when playing with the band ( @coffeecrank ). If you can not hear yourself you tend to over-sing in means of volume. And the end you are yelling. Maybe an In-Ear-Monitoring-System can be a good solution. You want to be able to sing at the same volume levels like you sing when doing the exercises.

    Yeah, agree with doc. Question is, is it an issue of loud volume or you screaming because you're trying to push for high notes? Can you hear yourself clearly?
