Will a cough make me loose my voice?

Hi, I went to a concert two nights ago and there was a lot of smoke from a smoke machine, since then I've had a really wheezy cough and heavy chest. At the moment my voice doesn't hurt so I'm not super concerned but every now and then my voice goes almost completely. Is there anything I can do to keep it from damaging my voice?

Try to avoid that nasty smoke, and drink lots of water, be gentle on the voice while singing these days.
