Hey all!
I wrote the OG for Old Guy, not gangster. I'm 60, act 20, and most people I hang out with are young. Well almost everyone is younger than I am. I've hated people my age cause they act old. So getting a band together seems like something just up my ally! Want to play Classic Rock and all the tunes I grew up on. But add in originals as much as possible.
I've been on disability for the past 15 years with back issues and sleep problems but been much better lately. Had a super career in the packaging industry with awesome benefits. So I've been making what the government pays plus guaranteed a certain percentage of what my base salary was. Uncle Sam gives you a 4% raise they take away 4% but it'll be always be the same amount.
My plans have been to get a band going, but this time I want to be the front guy so singing is a must. Broke my thumb bad a couple years ago and it took a year to be able to hold a pick. Even now I'm losing it here and there and the feeling isn't right in my thumb yet. I've done backup vocals before but never got any good. I never really practiced singing much and that's why I didn't get better. But I didn't think of the voice as an instrument either. When I was about 10 this one guitar teacher had me reading in about 7 positions on the neck. Read violin studies to improve reading. Same time I was memorizing a ton of chords. Than play the chord while playing the melody. So I was learning chord melody which sounds nice. But if I go over another guitarists house, they could be jamming to Zepplin or Sabbath and I couldn't. Took me awhile to figure other things out as we didn't have the Internet or YouTube or Ultimate Guitar or cell phones. I must of lived in a cave back than!
I'd like to sell my place and just go on the road the rest of my life. There's my newest goal! Rocking out all day, everyday!
But first I'll post where I'm at for a starting point.

I am sending you a warm Welcome from an AG (aging guy) to an OG (old guy), My name is Marco (most call me Doc, because of my profession), I am 49 years old and started my 2nd career 17months ago.
Man, you came to the right place. If you you want to reach your goals you will have to work really hard. But if you do so, you will reach them. The course teaches you everything you need to know and these Forums are great place to get qualified Feedback.
Doc
Welcome to the course from the UK, I am 45 years old been doing the course for just over a year now and have to work hard on every area. Improved my voice greatly with help and advice from fellow students and moderators.
Enjoy the journey to great singing.

There's a Guitar Forum I belong but haven't been using it for some time. Tom Hess. I've seen some people spending hours there and wonder if they play guitar or just play on the forum all day.
I do like the way it's set up. You can send messages to people you know and get notifications of them if you want. I've got too much going on right now and trying to make a schedule around everything that I'll stick to. I'll be happy to have one that works for me by New Years. Right now I'm working on it and changing it all the time.
But I see this Forum being very important to help reach my goals. I may keep this open on my computer some days all day.
Do you know Elon Musk, the guy that runs Tesla and the company going to Mars who started Paypal and some other Companies and made millions selling each, along with Bill Gates (MicroSoft) and a few other Billionaires schedule their days in 5 minute increments? Time is one thing that can't be replaced, until they invent the time machine that goes to the past. (I believe they can go forward but not back! Another topic!)
I've tried this with guitar (not the time machine!) and it's a lot easier scheduling one hour broken up in increments. Arpeggios for 5 mins., Ionian scale 5 mins., Phrygian another 5 etc. This is why I'm taking another couple weeks to get a working one done.
Anyway thanks I lost my train of thought!
