Comping : tone or timing ?

Hi everybody!
I'm currently comping voice takes for the first time and I would like to know which of two takes I should keep between two with correct pitch:
- the one with the best timing
- the one with the best tone
I would like to chose that with the best tone, and try to slice and shift it so that it would fit the tempo, but I'm not sure I'll succeed
Thanks!
