DVD or USB purchase??

Hi, I'm really enjoying Ken's YouTube posts and would like to purchase one of the 2.0 bundles, but I have a technical question, so I know which format to purchase. I was thinking of purchasing DVD format and downloading it to a thumbdrive so I can have a backup. (I always like back ups!!!) But if the DVDs are "read only" and cannot be downloaded, I would choose to purchase the USB. Does anyone know if the DVDs can be backed up?

    If you purchase DVD's or USB, you are also allowed a complimentary download of the program as a courtesey.
