How to do that little "Break" sound between the notes?

Greetings!!

I'm learning by the free youtube videos. I've started 3 months ago and my voice already improved A LOT.

I'm a huuuge fan of Jay Buchanan from Rival Sons and I'm trying to learn a bunch of his technics to add to my own style.

He sings loud with a lot of resonance. Once in a while I hear some "little breaks" between the notes, usually while he's belting. I suspect that come from a "controled break" in the second passagio. I hear Robert Plant doing a lot to.

Can somebody explain to me exactly what it is and how it works?

alright, thanks! i am not sure, it sounds like a yodel to me, like going in and out of head voice on purpose. since we learn to seemlessly go through the passagio between chest and head in the course, I would imagine that you would be able to imitate this sound easily if you followed the course.

i'll tag some people who might second what i just said, or disagree. @Diego @Wigs @coffeecrank @sjonrokz4u

    Thanks for the answer, Klaus!

It do really sound like yodel. I see a lot of Blues/Pop vocalists using it. It sound like it's caused by a very early fast change between a belting head voice and falsetto. But I was not too sure.

that’s what it sounds like to me too. In and out of head voice but I think there’s something happening in the throat to give that little “popping” sound going between the two
