What is Laryngeal Tilt?

Hello, I am curious about laryngeal tilt and what purpose it serves. Is it something we have to consciously do everytime we sing? Is it utilized when we sing higher notes? What is it?? There are not many explanations online, so any help here would be greatly appreciated!
