Singers and Speaking: why some are so much more distinctive/cool than others?

I am curious why some singers have much more distinctive and powerful speaking voices than others.

I have heard various non-famous singers with really, really great speaking voices and famous singers with speaking voices that do not feel remarkable at all.

Between my two greatest favorites, David Coverdale always sounds fantastic irrespective of mic and context. On the other hand, I expected Ronnie Dio's speaking voice to be more distinctive during interviews. David seems to always have that roaring lion.

Cheers,
Steve
