Geddy Lee tone - practice tips?

Hey all, my question refers to this video by Ken:

https://youtu.be/09VGsd6KvQ0?si=nZi2IRogDyiAJgSy

I’m the Geddy in a Rush tribute band. I’m trying to get closer to his vocal style.

How would you adjust the vocal exercises to emulate his voice? He holds back quite a bit (compression, mask?) Are there adjustments or exercises to work on these qualities?

If you watch the video or have seen it this may make more sense.

Thanks!

You're talking about doing vocal exercises as if you are the voice you're impersonating? That might not be a good idea as it could "burn in" bad habits. They are designed to develop your own voice so you can do whatever you want with it. Vol 4 (head) and Vol 5 (mixed) would have to be mastered to sound like Geddy. Maybe you already have that level of development?
