Hey Everyone!
How am I doing singing this song?
I want to improve the tonal quality in my voice. I want to be more soulful. I know this is more country style, but Chris has a unique tone that evokes emotion. I want to have that same effect, but with more roots in soul, not country.

You had me going back and forth between your version, Chris' original, and Donny Hathaway which might be a good model for a more soulful version. Chris is putting a lot of resonance in the mask (between the nose and forehead is where I feel it) but Donny is also resonating right around there on "This Christmas."
Somewhere between adding a little healthy distortion on "Did I tell you baby" and aiming toward Donny's soul might do it. I think adding these elements to your version would take it from good to great!
