Here is a cover of "Your Song" by Elton John & Bernie Taupin that I have been working on since I restarted piano lessons several years ago, following an 18 year absence from when I was still in high school. Definitely still feels difficult to play the piano and sing (while seated) at the same time, but it gets easier every day with more and more practice! Also just figuring out my recording setup, so this recording was more of a test, but as I got through the whole piece with minimal mistakes I thought I should post it. Hope you enjoy my version of the song!

    When I’m doing the exercises, I really struggle to focus on the various things I should be aware of. This is normal: you can’t really focus on more than one thing at a time.

    It’s clear from this course that the reason for all the exercises is that it’s easier to focus on what’s important with these, than with a song. Songs are complex!

    And you’re making it even more difficult by playing at the same time!

    I’ve largely paused singing songs for now. I’m working on technique. Perhaps in a year, I’ll start singing more again.
