Positive Story ONE Year Later

Hi all, I wanted to share a really positive story!
3 days ago, I attended an open mic night and sang in front of just over 20 people. It was the most amazing feeling ever. I had a goal to sing in front of a crowd of people on a microphone before the year was over, and I reached it. Today (18th October) is the 1 year anniversary on Kens course. So I reached my goal with 3 days to spare! It was really important to get myself out there in the first year in order to not build up stage fright for me as I have a habit of making things scary in my mind.
I have a stammer/stutter with my regular speaking voice, but that goes away when I sing, so it's a MASSIVE driving force for me to continue as it's the only time I get vocal freedom. I practised a lot with 1 or 2 days rest a week. I had no previous experience singing and had no idea what I was doing before I took the course, I am on Term 3. I am happy with the progress of my voice.
I sang These Boots Are Made For Walking - Haley Reinhart Version; I practised it for just over 3 months of that song, I think, daily and grinded every word and note down so on the day it was just autopilot! I had It was more of a test of nerves with a less serious song that's not intense; like singing happy birthday I guess.
Anyway, I wanted to share my story here with you a lot. I was so nervous waiting to go on. I did the full warmup before, but since it took ages till my go, I ran out to the carpark and did the warmup again during the break since my voice would have gone down again I guess? haha people looking at me but I had so much nerves I didn't care. When I was singing, I was able to do it, and the methods held up 100%. I was so pleased with myself. Theres probably more exciting stories out there but for somebody with a stutter and about 0% confidence that I just managed to do that this week is the bravest thing I have ever done in my life
I'm going back in a month to try other songs and more than 1 in a row, but I feel super happy about my singing journey. - Ashley.

Did you get a video? If not, perhaps next time?!🤩🤩
I'm unsure if the theatre venue took a photo, but there's no video; I was way too awkward for me to ever view it back anyway haha. I would like somebody to video it next time; my body language was so tense anyway it would not have been pleasant to watch, lol!
Not only did you overcome the fears of public performance, but you have a solid year
of development under your belt that will pay dividends in so many ways.
I love the freedom you get from your stammer when singing!
Rock on!
