Good budget vocal compressor.

Hi guys! I'm looking for recommendations for a vocal compressor unit for that comes at a relatively low cost. I know many would tell me that getting the "so and so" will be expensive but swear that it will worth the money. However, as of now, I am a student and do not have a job. I live off of $150 a month. So a $3000 compressor is way beyond my reach. That said, is there anything that I could get for cheap and sounds great at the same time?

You can get the behringer compressors or the dbx compressors for only one or two hundred dollars. They won't sound great, but they will work.

sometime you can pick up a focusrite, rane, or lexicon compressor for cheap. not the best but can excite vocals some.

Yes, the Rane compressor - Limiter - gate for 0.99 cents would be a great deal... Even for fifty bucks, Rane makes great gear.

I would try for a bargain on eBay on a better used compressor, rather than the cheapest new one I could find, but that's just me.

My current setup is not exactly what one would call "desirable".

I have a brand-less condenser mic hooked up to a Wharfedale 802 USB Mixer. That's about it

It's more than a lot of people have to work. Heck a tape recorder will do just fine for the lessons.
