Vocal workouts with a cold?

Is it best to take a day off of our vocal workouts when you have a head cold and/or sore throat? There is no loss of voice or hoarseness.

Actually your voice will remain in better shape if you keep working out lightly through your illness. When we lay off of our vocals during an illness, we may experience a small setback that takes longer to recover from than it would if we just do our exercises without pushing or overdoing it.

We only benefit from taking a vocal rest due to illness if it involves hoarseness or bronchial infection. Strep throat would also qualify for a break. Incessant coughing can swell up your chords, too. We keep singing when we can, and our full vocal recovery will be much easier.
