recovering from illness

so I have been suffering from congestion and mild laryngitis and vocal ability loss for some time now from a severe head cold and bronchitis. how does one get back into the groove when all this keeps you from singing or singing well.

    The laryngitis part is the worst. If you have laryngitis, you have no choice but vocal rest, which is a setback in itself. Usually you should sing through an illness, but you can't with laryngitis.

    Those bugs that take your voice out can linger for a long time. You really have to recover from the bug first. Otherwise, your voice is still being held back by the congestion that never goes away.

    Bronchitis, too. The coughing keeps causing your cords to be irritated and swollen. So you have to get over the coughing, or you won't be back to healthy cords.

    See a doctor and follow their advice to recover from the illness. When you are able, begin doing exercises lightly. Increase volume a bit, over time, as your voice begins to wake back up.
