Does sinus affect singing?

Does sinus cause us to have a naturally nasally singing voice? People have told me that I've a nasally voice whenever I speak or sing. Should I have it surgically remove if I'm going to be a professional singer?

  • No, we don't need surgery to sing. We can vary the amount of air that goes out our mouth vs the amount that goes through the nasal passage. People tend to over-obsess about nasality in your voice. You NEED SOME nasal sound. Otherwise you will sound like you are very congested. That isn't pretty, either. You want a nice balance of throat and nasal tone. There I said it. You want some nasal tone.
