How do you get the tongue dropped to the base of the jaw ?

do you get the tongue flat by pressing it against the back of the teeth? I am having trouble because im not sure if my tongue is flat enough? Are there any exercises i can do to show me how the tongue is suppose to look and exercises so it becomes more natural to me ?
