I keep comparing it to BodyBuilding or martial arts... We all start off as that skinny or clutzy kid, and if trained really well, we sometimes can become like a Greek god/goddess or Jason Statham/Lucy Liu!!
Does it happen overnight? nope Does it take a crap-ton of work? Yup Do you need to employ discipline to advance? Yup Do you need to up your health status? Yup (at least it really helps) Will you become a good singer? If you work your butt off over time, YUP! Will you become a world class singer? Maybe
I get you totally! I'm currently working on a wicked tune by Badlands (Jake E Lee's band after leaving Ozzy). Its called Dreams in the Dark, and the way that Ray Gillen Sings it is stellar. If I could emulate any singer, it would be him. My Momma used to say, "shoot for the stars, hit the moon"... and so I plug away at it. Check it out on Youtube, and you'll see what I'm up against :-p
Diaphragmatic (I sooooo hate typing that out!!!) support is a little tough to get down to be natural with at the start... feels a little bit like when I was taking SCUBA lessons and I was learning to breathe through the mouth piece. At first I was using up ALLOT of gas because I wasn't self-regulating well, but after a while I was able to calm my breathing down to this new way of doing things until I was accustomed to doing it and very controlled.
It only gets better from here on out! There are so many nuances to embed in oneself when it comes to Volume 1 that people get so hard on themselves over This is one of the main reasons why we advise to take more than just a few months on volume 1. Keep going, keep it light in the beginning when you navigate the bridge and you'll make your way through before you know it :-)
I'm mixed Ng vocal styles found something I like it's like to as my style I want to be is Bret Michael and Micki Steele from the bangles. That sing and yet spoken word combo
