Going back down the lower scales

Hey guys! I've been doing Volume 1 for about 3 weeks now and I'm currently only seeing one major issue. On the lower scales (Low G to Low A) When I go down the scale I have trouble singing the low notes, but I don't have a problem singing the low G or low A when initially going up the scale. I think it's because I'm not able to keep the sound bright going down, and I tend to pull the larynx and chest when going down. Anybody have any tips on avoiding these problems when going down the scales?
