Is it true that smiling help your tone or placement and eventually help your singing for pop singers and musical theatre?

You smile to open the mouth more and expose the teeth which helps to get more brightness. Also when you raise your cheeks, it helps to lift the soft palate to let the voice ring in the back of the throat.
