Beautiful, @Diego. Really beautiful. If you want to improve something: try to hold back on the high notes. David does that too. I am working on a collaborative demo with Michael (a duet), an have to do the part of David. It is amazing how he holds back on high notes and gives these notes a very special tone. Doc

@Diego, well done, I expected nothing less from you :) keep it up! if I was forced to "criticize" something, you could try to match some of the tone/mood even more, but then again, it wouldn't be Diego-style anymore. I just say that because I know you surely have the ability to copy David even more, but maybe you weren't actually trying to do so.

either way, it's always nice to listen to you!

Let me guess, is it something like Under Pressure? That's a good tune.

@doc_ramadani Thanks for the feedback Doc! David is an AMAZING singer.
@Klaus_T I wanted to do Bowie style, but not dwell too deep to where my voice was lost and it was more a David impersonation. You get what I mean?

@Vocality Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! Looking forward to that Crazy Little Thing Called Love.

@Diego, got it! I think it is good that you gave it your personal touch. I was just trying to say something critical in order for the rest of us to feel a bit better ;) just kidding, it is good to see you progress so quickly. Are you gonna do the Devil Woman assignment?

    Hi George, @Vocality

wow, nice "Elvis" tone in your voice - that is great. And where is your crazy Scottish accent???

But to be honest, I have to tell you that you will have to work a lot on pitch. I sounds that you are really disconnected from the playback: This is only my personal observation. Probably this might help:
    • You have your synthesizer at home, right?
    • Try to play the the melody of the verse with your synth along with the playback
    • Afterwards stop the playback
    • Play the melody of the lead vocals
    • Try to sing to that and record it (only the melody and your singing)
We will get you there. But, your tone already improved very, very well.

Oh, George, good to see you to accept this unsteady path. You will get there. We will help you, you Elvis, you.

This is a beginning of another steep learning curve, get a song down right now need real time tuition, but really happy with the sound getting good and not intended to sound like "Elvis" just my natural voice.

Not sure on the singing notes this is in Eb the original was in D, let break in down what notes I have to sing in the first 2 parts anyone got any ideas.

Or maybe get the Karaoke-version in original key?

I agree with everything @doc_ramadani said. Do you play any instruments? And yes get the backing track in the original key and match the pitches note-for-note.

@Michael4000 Okay will get it in the original key that’s not helping just confusing to me as a beginner. Have a look for tutorials, just need the singing melody notes.

Had an idea your super good could you do accapella of crazy little thing called love in the original this might help.

What do you think just trying to think outside the box!!

    George
  • @Vocality You can also buy the Karaoke Version custom backing track. This lets you select which instruments/vocals you want, and in what key, and download any combination as many times as you want. Here is the link to the preview so you can experiment with it: https://www.karaoke-version.co.uk/custombackingtrack/queen/crazy-little-thing-called-love.html

You could download just the vocal for yourself, in different keys, and practice with that.

No extra charge every time you edit your backing track for download really good.

Here goes without karaoke prompts, think this will help in the long run I have to get rid of the crutches.

Gonna try accapella to try and get the feel for pitch and then apply it to the backing track again only start with the intro.

Struggling with the original key of D, have now downloaded it in Db more comfortable half step lower and can always work up to the original Key.

Learning alot here have a good vocal range in scales, but when you put it into a song not so easy.

Really in a struggle with song application meldy notes can't seem to find correct pitch, if I try it in the ah vowel ok, the minute goto sing it struggle to adjust pitch of the notes.

This aint easy guys any advice to help please so frustrated.

  • HuduVuduHuduVudu 2.0 PRO Posts: 1,818
My guess is that you are struggling with the pitch change not necessarily the pitch itself. Look to see where you are having pitch problems and then look at the note right before it and determine what the difference in semitones are.
  • VocalityVocality 2.0 PRO Posts: 1,606
Yes pitch change feels like resistance there’s no freedom to move in pitch.

@huduvudu I will upload the verse and will try best to match the notes.
  • HuduVuduHuduVudu 2.0 PRO Posts: 1,818
You need to do the tone toggles in Volume 1. I am having the very same problem as you. It is the transition that is causing me grief, not necessarily the pitch.
  • VocalityVocality 2.0 PRO Posts: 1,606
    @HuduVudu

Your a life saver that makes sense, do them along side the scales.

Will try that out thanks for your help

    George 😀😎
  • HuduVuduHuduVudu 2.0 PRO Posts: 1,818
I do the toggles as part of my warm ups. Right now I am just doing them in chest.

    :)

    @HuduVudu

Just wanted to check you do the toggle exercises under the folder 4. Better Pitch Toggle exercises 1-7.

    Here you go @Vocality !
I did this just now. If you need me to do it better. Tell me.
    Hope this help.
Did it in one take so you could hear the breaths and where I take them.
  • VocalityVocality 2.0 PRO Posts: 1,606
Thanks @diego pretty good much clearer than the acapella I downloaded, realise the issue been having with note change.
@HuduVudu kindly pointed out need to do toggles have a resistance switch to next note, can do it in scales but not in singing.

Practice toggles with normal scales and post it later.

Hopefully can get this sorted now I know the type issue I have. just need to the apply the extra exercises to increase agility.

Many thanks been so frustrated on this one.

    Great acapella

    Many thanks

    George

@Diego Again awesome track mate! This next comment is for myself if I get it wrong because I want to see if my ear is getting better at visualising what's happening as you sing, so please if anyone disagrees, pipe up and let me know. It does sound to me like some of the higher notes are getting choked just the very tiniest bit and could do with a touch more vowel mod... What do you think?
The acapella you did sounds like a great example of contiguous phrase singing, I really like the way you blended the consonants.

@vocality When I started trying to apply the scales to singing and finding the melody, I shared some of your problems. What helped me was listening to the same few songs over and over ( I need a bit of variety other wise if it was just one song it starts to feel stale for me) for days on end, even singing with original vocal and lyrics then trying the karaoke version straight after. Then I started to develop a bit of memory of how it would sound and I found it all flowed better. I know that at the moment you are concentrating on matching the original melody, but I must say in the version you posted, I enjoyed how you changed it up even if it was unintentional. It sounded like the beginnings of your own version.
Looking forward to the next post of this song!

    @Wigs

Thanks for your comment, if I can get the pitch correct will do it in my own style on pitch. I think that was what @doc_ramadani and @Michael4000 we’re trying to say correct me if I am wrong.

Nice to do a song like the original, I think we all need to have our own style to the song as well.

@Vocality your timing is perfect and I like the attitude. But I am hearing the same pitch problems. Maybe try a super simple melody like happy birthday or something and try to match pitch.
