Singing with in-ear monitors

It has been a while since I've been on the forum, but I am still singing of course.
Recently I have been practicing solely with in-ear monitors. I feel like it's so much easier to track the tone of my voice and pitch.
The strange thing is that I always felt weird singing with headphones, but I don't have this problem with in-ear monitors.
I'm just wondering if there might be a downside to this? I feel like I'm improving, because I hear the sound as it is, instead of my inner hearing.

I really notice a lot of improvement.
