Chronic pharyngitis

Hello! I've been doing KTVA course for one year. I'm on volume 3&4 now. Unfortunately I've been struggling with chronic pharyngitis since the end of may (probably a virus). I'm trying to take care of my voice, reduced speaking and singing, speaking silently, drinking plenty of water, etc. but it doesn't change a lot. I feel a little sore throat (vocal cords are ok) and a fatigue. My question is - should I stop doing my workouts (recently I've almost stopped and done volume 2 really gently)? Could I try the voice repair course?

I'm a little bit desesperated... My progress was huge with KTVA and I'm in a band now (rehearsal once a week and I don't oversing in my opinion).

Did anyone here have chronic issues?

Thank you in advance for your help.

  • i would ask a doctor to see if singing is safe. with an ongoing inflammation in the throat, the normal advice would be to rest. "speaking silently", if by that you mean whispering, this can be more taxing on your voice than normal speech (more air over cords). i think unless it's been going on for 3 months or more, it would not be considered chronic (if that makes you feel any better :))

it is frustrating and i had a similar thing earlier this year, be patient, try not to stress about lost gains, it does not help with healing to be stressing out, and also, these things are part of the journey, too. use the time to re-visit some lesson videos, learn about theory, drink healthy teas and eat good healthy food, get lots of sleep etc.

    hope you recover soon!
  • Thank you very much! I feel better now :) I hope the same.
