I’d like to do KTVA at some point to see what knowledge gaps I have that could be filled when I have the funds. I love singing, but other than singing in a vocal group and choir in HS, I do most of my singing in around the house or in the car. The first thing I would like to figure out is what is the best way for me to record myself to objectively listen to see what I sound like. And where do I get the tracks to sing with to record and see how I sound. Is there like Karaoke program or something I can use on my PC? Do I Need to be a paid student to post myself so I can get feedback from fellow students?

The best way to record yourself is to get a mic an interface for your computer and a DAW to record to.
I get my tracks from you tube. There’s also a place you can buy them from called karaokeversion.com

Wigs

If you don't have funds for equipment then using your phone is fine. Just listen to your recording first before posting to make sure all the sound levels are good. There is also Smule which quite a few students use. Also have a look at this.
