    The singing seemed allright, but it was rough to listen to with all of the distractions in the recording itself.

    Hi @videoace Thanks for the prompt feedback! I recorded this acoustic gig with my iPhone 7. The recording quality sounds alright to my untrained ear, though. I replaced it on a table near the corner where we performed...

    Do you think recording with a PZM mic would've been better? I remember you mentioned PZM mics before. Are they good for live shows as well?

    iPhone 7, same as my last thread, but this time it was an acoustic gig, so the sound quality should be better than the previous one (hopefully)...

    I wouldn't recommend using pzm's for iphone recordings

    There are a lot of different hand held sized stereo recorders you can buy for around 100 bucks. Tascam, Fostex, and a host of others produce them.
    These are actually nice little recorders. Great sound, and I do believe they also come with effects like reverb, compression, and delay, but they make for some nice recordings. It will also cut down on the room noise/crowd noise.
    It's Much better than a cell phone, and I do believe you record your music onto an SD chip so it can be removed, and placed directly on to your computer for editing, etc............

    @videoace Thank you so much for your input. I should perhaps kick it up a notch and go get one of those real recorders then. And I guess I had too much confidence in iPhone devices. Would you recommend these hand held sized stereo recorders for band rehearsals, too? In other words, i'm hoping to get a decent recorder that works for gigs and rehearsals alike, if that's not asking for the moon.

    Those recorders work great for both, and they are stereo unlike the mono recordings from a cell phone.
    When I first heard my bass players recorder at one of our rehearsals, I was shocked at how good it sounded.
    It sounded more professional than our actual live sound. Must be the processors in them.

    But for sure look those up. I think some even have xlr inputs so you can run lines directly from a mixing board into them.

    And I'm sorry for keeping you guys listening to my crapping recording quality. Now that I have my own mic (thank you and others for recommending the awesome E945!), I think it's time to get a real recorder, too.
