Comfortable range to start the exercises with

Hi guys. My lowest comfortable note is B2. I see that Ken starts some exercises on low G2. I can't go that low. Do I start from G3 when doing the exercises? I'd appreciate it if you could clarify this for me as I'm new in this. Thanks

Hello, I'm no expert but I think it should be the same as high notes, you could start when the scale is doable no problems I think at least. Peacee

    Hello @angrybeaver,

It sounds like own Ken's course. If you purchased the course you should get your forum status updated. Please find the instructions here.

Hi @doc_ramadani, sorry for responding late. I have come across the lip roll exercise audio on soundcloud while listening to examples of how other people do it. From there I have listened and analyzed the audio. Unfortunately I do not have the course yet. I was wondering if I am doing the exercise right, I know it is not about sound, but it would be nice if I could get some info on how to achieve this clear sound that everyone gets when lip rolling. Thanks @Wigs, I have decided to go back and revisit these warmup exercises as it seems my sound is bad and not at all like bubbles. I have only managed to get that sound when somehow holding my cheeks and I was not even thinking how I did it and now I cant repeat. I feel really useless when I hear all the others manage to do these exercises like they are supposed to be done and here I am trying hard and failing always. How do I cut back air and what am I supposed to feel when doing the lip rolls?

    Hi @angrybeaver,

thanks for the demo of your Lip Burbles - even it is very short. That is not bad, mate. Try to use the least amount of air to do it and you will learn how to control your breath. Good breath management is one of the key concepts for singing with proper technique.

It is easier to use your fingers but it won't help you understand breath control. Don't worry if it takes you even months to get it. It seems it's one of those things where some can get it straight away while others can't. From what I've heard about 30-40% have trouble at first. Even Ken and some of our most experienced students took some time before "getting it".
Keep practicing, pout your lips like you are going to kiss but don't hold them too tightly and try blowing different amounts of air at first to get the lips to burble. Then you can concentrate on cutting back air.

Something to note on the lip burbles. I was one of those who sort of got it right away. Not perfectly but was able to kind of do it. It’ll come to you but the thing I noticed is my lips need to be wet a little before I can do it. Even though I can do it easily now if my lips aren’t moist I can’t do them. Try licking your lips first and see if that helps. I didn’t get to watch your video so I don’t know if that’s what’s happening or not
