When I sing with breath support and a neutral larynx it sounds like I am squeezing?

I realized that whenever I sing with "breath support" (at least I think that I sing with support, I can feel my abdominal muscles engage when I sing) it feels like my throat is closed and I have to "press" the air throuhg my vocal cords. It feels unusual and it sounds like I am squeezing, but my throat is not straining. Other times when I sing like that, only air comes out. I always used to sing by straining my swallowing muscles, so it is a very strange feeling to sing like that.
Is this what is meant by singing with support or am I doing something wrong?

Be careful you aren't mistaking just tensing your abs as using support, this could be why you feel squeezed.

    First thanks for your answers!
I am a student so I dont have enough money for the course. The problem with tensing the whole time could be right, I will look at it when Im singing.
I am aware of that I dont tense my abs, so this probably is not the problem.
